- Description
The social economy drives inclusive and sustainable growth in local communities by valuing social and environmental wellbeing over profit, encouraging cooperation, and supporting community-led initiatives. This project, titled "Empowering Local Communities through Social Economy Education" (ELCSEE), empowers rural areas in Greece, Cyprus, and Bulgaria to combat unemployment, social exclusion, and economic inequality. Many of these communities face challenges like geographic isolation, brain drain, and a lack of access to business support structures. By focusing on education and capacity-building, the project equips local stakeholders with the knowledge and tools to harness social economy principles, fostering resilient, inclusive communities.
- Objectives - Enhance Understanding: Increase awareness among educators, community leaders, and youth (18-30) about the social economy’s role in sustainable development, job creation, and social inclusion through targeted workshops and resources.
- Develop Resources: Create a practical 50-page guidebook using partners’ expertise to integrate social economy into education and community work.
- Foster Collaboration: Strengthen transnational cooperation by sharing best practices and models across Greece, Cyprus, and Bulgaria via multi-site training events, building a robust network.
- Build Capacity: Equip local actors with practical skills (e.g., planning, digital tools) and strategies to launch and sustain community-led social economy initiatives, tailored to local needs.
